The formula

How to convert hours to working days

Divide the total hours by your daily work-hour length. That’s the whole calculation.

For example, 100 ÷ 8 = 12.5 work days on a standard 8-hour schedule. Change the hours per day input if your schedule is longer (4×10, 3×12) or shorter (part-time).

The calculator also shows whole days + leftover hours and the equivalent number of 5-day work weeks so you can paste the right format into your timesheet, PTO tracker, or project plan.

Formula
work days = total hours ÷ hours per day
Worked examples
100 ÷ 8 = 12.5 days
100 ÷ 10 = 10 days
40 ÷ 8 = 5 days (one week)
80 ÷ 8 = 10 days (typical PTO)

Quick answers about converting hours to work days.

Divide total hours by hours per workday. Example: 100 hours ÷ 8 hours/day = 12.5 working days. Change the hours-per-day input to match your schedule — 6, 7, 8, 10, or 12 are the most common.

40 hours equals 5 working days on a standard 8-hour schedule, or 4 days on a 10-hour schedule. On a 6-hour part-time schedule it would be about 6.67 working days.

On a standard 8-hour workday, 100 hours equals 12.5 work days. On a 10-hour workday that’s exactly 10 days, and on a 12-hour workday it’s about 8.33 days. The calculator lets you enter any custom hours-per-day value if your schedule differs.

80 hours of paid time off equals 10 work days on an 8-hour schedule. That’s a common two-week vacation allotment at most full-time US employers. On a 10-hour workday it would be 8 days, and on a 12-hour shift it’s about 6.67 days.
